"Cinematic Lie: China Deceives the World with a Fake Film About the Uyghurs at the Cannes Film Festival"

China participated in the 78th Cannes International Film Festival in France, which is being held from May 13 to 24, with a fake propaganda film titled "Striving, Naila," which focuses on the Uyghurs.

According to a report by Tengritag, the film tells the story of a Uyghur girl named Naila who travelled to Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macau to learn auto repair, despite her parents' opposition. This was done with the support of Guangdong Province's so-called "Xinjiang Aid Policy." The report indicated that the film was produced for false Chinese propaganda purposes and that it focuses on key themes such as "Chinese provinces' assistance to Xinjiang," vocational training, and promoting ethnic unity.

Some scenes in the promotional film reveal that this project is a purely fake propaganda scheme. Naila's close friends are all Chinese men. She was very weak in her studies, and her father told her that if she didn't improve her studies, the only way forward was to get married. She also describes how she pursued her "big dream" of learning to repair cars in the Chinese provinces despite her parents' opposition, and that she ultimately achieved her goal thanks to the so-called "Xinjiang Aid" policy.

Despite the film's claim that the main theme is the lives of the Uyghur people, it gives the impression of a Uyghur society devoid of content, except for her father wearing a traditional hat and decorating their home in Uyghur style. Among these scenes is a scene of Naila clasping her hands together to pray for success in an exam, similar to Chinese and Buddhist practices, demonstrating China's attempt to create an image of a puritan Uyghur who has lost her national and religious identity.

China has devoted enormous resources and efforts to propaganda and media coverage of the genocide in East Turkistan. It has produced and released numerous films and documentaries in recent years, exploiting platforms such as the Cannes International Film Festival to promote its fake propaganda. These false propaganda films focus on key themes such as the happiness and well-being of the Uyghurs, the uniqueness of Chinese politics, and ethnic unity, presenting a completely false reality.
